Lyrics
What really went on there?
We only have this excerpt
There's a party going on down around here
Cruiser's Creek yeah
Watch the shirt-tails flapping in the wind
Sidewalk running
See the people holding from the back
Hat boaters tilting
There's a party on down around here
Cruiser's Creek now
Cruiser's Creek yeah
Cruiser's Creek yeah
Cruiser's Creek yeah
Cruiser's Creek now
Cruiser's Creek now
Got nice pink bubbles in my mouth
From what I've taken
There's a party come around annual
Cruiser's Creek now
And Bianco on the breath guaranteed
Cruiser's Creek yeah
Cruiser's Creek now
Cruiser's Creek
Cruiser's Creek yeah
Cruiser's Creek now
Cruiser's Creek yeah
See the street litter twisting in the wind
Crisp bags turning
See B&H cartons laughing in the wind
Road litter turning
Spent forty-five minutes last night
Parallel crease, pow!
There's a good midafternoon breeze in the air now
With quick treats from clerk Pete
My brain is clear now
No more red lead chimney puff or ZTT stuff
At Cruiser's Creek now
Cruiser's Creek yeah
Cruiser's Creek
Cruiser's Creek now
Cruiser's Creek yeah
Cruiser's Creek now
There's a party going down around here
Next to Freiders Freighter
Get the lead ore deposit off my chest
Cruiser's Creek
Quick sex behind steel cabinet
It's for what I'm yearning
And there's a dim chance it's what I'm gonna get
At Cruiser's Creek yeah
At Cruiser's Creek now
At Cruiser's Creek
Workforce! Limited!
Cruiser's Creek yeah!
Somebody went and left on the gas
Checkpoint, main gate
And there's a lit a number six cigarette
Like a wick, burning
Cruiser's Creek
Stamp it out just before it's too late
And turn the tap off
My name is Big Hero, mate
At Cruiser's Creek yeah
Avert disaster
And I imagine
The sound of its blast, yeah
There's a party going on down around here
Cruiser's Creek now
Watch the shirt-tails flapping in the wind
Sidewalk running
See the people holding from the back
Hat boaters tilting
There's a party on down around here
Cruiser's Creek now
Cruiser's Creek yeah
Cruiser's Creek
Nuptial! Annual! Freaks limited!
Cruiser's Creek!

I will keep my Comment very simple. I had a C.D. version of ‘Cruisers Creek’ on “This Nations Saving Grace” and it was 15 minutes long on that. A lot of Fall songs have got shorter on rereleases.”My New House” was about 10 mins long and “Lay of the Land” on “The wonderful of frightening world of the fall” (this would by late 80s C.D. releases) was just under 8 minutes long I actually had the extended version, nearly 25 minutes of “And this day” on one C.D.,
I started getting into the Fall in the summer of 88 in lower sixth at school. The Brix era. I went to see them often and many friends of mine still adore them. I shook Mark E Smiths hand when i met him later by chance outside a small venue in Hove Brighton around 2007 and told him he and the band were on top form, which they were, a truly raucous energy was flowing from them. I remember a British Indian friend of mine at Art School at Wimbledon was a massive fan of them and rightly described them as glamorous. Very true. There was always a lot going on with the Fall. In their relationships and in their minds and music.
Thanks for your comment, Robert.
You made a similar comment about having a 25 minute version “And This Day” on bzfgt’s annotatedfall.doomby.com (https://web.archive.org/web/20240810095830/http://annotatedfall.doomby.com/pages/the-annotated-lyrics/and-this-day.html, comment #47, 28/9/2020).
I am skeptical. I’ll go further and say I am confident you are wrong. I note you say you “had” these CDs, which suggests you no longer do, so I think you are misremembering. .
There is no documented 25 minute official CD release of “And This Day”. The longest version I’ve heard is the 15+ minute version on Hip Priest and Kamerads (recorded at Hammersmith Palais, 25 March 1982).
The “extended version” of “Cruiser’s Creek” on the 2010 box set reissue of This Nation’s Saving Grace is c.7 and a half minutes. That’s the longest version I know of.
There is no documented version of “My New House” that gets anywhere near 10 minutes (except for Sonic Youth’s Peel Session version which is about 8 minutes).
“Lay of the Land” on known late-80s CD versions of WAFWoTF is c.5:45, not “just under” 8 minutes.
But of course, if you can find the editions you had in discogs or elsewhere, the evidence will be gratefully received.
Well at this point in time i feel like the reporter in Capricorn one in the sense i have no evidence to hand just at the moment. I treat C.D.s like beer mats and a lot have got lost. I will get back if i find them. The 25 min version existed clear as day on my C.D. of Hip Priests and Kamerads. To Note also my C.D. version of “No Bulbs” was just under 17 mins long and absolutely epic. But lets think about life in general now. “Doctor Brodies Report” by Borges is now just “Brodies Report” and another of his works his its title changed. On the plus side in terms of colour stability – Nice to see that Donald Trump has his official portrait in the White house with a Blue tie again at long last (and J.D.Vance). The Republicans have been frequently wearing Red ties which is not their colour and many Americans agree with me. (“Since when were they ever red” – as a news reporter comments in the trailer to ‘Captain America Brave New World’). Who knows what else might actually return again to its original form ? Perhaps one day L.B.C. will stop using the word “Pandemic of 2020” and more correctly use the phrase “Policy of 2020”. They might even one day separate the “with” and “by” that were added together on death stats. Kiev might come back into fashion again. And why not ? They all speak Russian in that city.
To reiterate:
No 25 minute version of “And This Day” has ever been released, on Hip Priest and Kamerads or anywhere else.
No c17 minute long version of “No Bulbs” has ever been released either.
