Lyrics
Strange Town (T.S. McPhee, Groundhogs)
This is a strange town, people here round don't have no fun
I've been here two years, I've been looking round but I ain't found none
It seems that all they care about is pointing people out
Saying stupid things like, "get the lice out your hair"
I don't believe these people, spend all their time walking round looking so glum
They think that life is for working to secure their pension when retirement come
Ah, but they don't realise, it's right before their eyes
Life is for living, right now before you die
This is a strange town, people here round don't have no fun
I've been here two years, I've been looking round but I ain't found none
It seems that all they care about is pointing people out
Saying stupid things like, "get the lice out your hair"
Garden (T.S. McPhee, Groundhogs)
My garden is all overgrown
And the weeds are creeping up on my home
Grass has grown over two foot high
And the trees are blocking out the sky
French windows won't open any more
From the moss that's grown outside the door
A hundred birds are nesting in the trees
Looks like a wildlife sanctuary
But I'm not going to cut a single blade of grass
My garden will look just like the distant past
Before the days of agricultural land
Before the time when pebbles turned to sand
When I leave this house I'm going to stay
I'm forsaking my comforts to live another way
Get my clothes from heaps, my food from bins
My water from ponds and have tramps for all my friends
But I'm not going to cut a single blade of grass
My garden will look just like the distant past
Before the days of agricultural land
Before the time when pebbles turned to sand
When I leave this house I'm going to stay
I'm forsaking my comforts to live another way
Get my clothes from heaps, my food from bins
My water from ponds and have tramps for all my friends
Strangetown (The Fall)
Like your plants, they are nice
This is a strange town, people here round don't ever smile
I've been here two years, I've been looking round trying to find out
It seems that all people think about is calling people out
My garden is overgrown and the weeds are creeping up on my home
Birds are nesting in the trees
Shout!
I can't believe all these people
Spend all their time walking round looking so glum
They think that life is for working
And gather their pension when retirement comes
There they only think about calling people out
And I can't be there to get the lugs out of your hair
French windows don't open anymore
And somebody's kid is talking at my door
Branches growing up to ten foot high
This is a strange town, people here round don't ever smile
I've been here twenty-three years
I've been looking round but I can't find out
There's a kid talking to himself
I thought he's in bad health
[ ]
One, two, three, four
This is a strange town
The birds are too scared to fly, I think
I've been stressed by a spy
The kid talking to himself by the door outside
But I'm not going to touch a single blade of grass
My garden will be like a distant past
From the days of sophomore
For the days you don't listen anymore
This is a strange town, people here round don't ever smile
I've been here two weeks
I've been looking round but I can't find out
I really like the bees
I will eat sugar but it's green
[ ]
And the bees are in their hives
And right behind me is a deficit of sky
[ ]
By the bin, by the yard
The pink iPod is spewed out
